Future posts will delve deeper into these two systems of the yuga science and the phenomenon of the precession of the equinoxes. This post is intended to be just a summary to introduce you to the phenomenon of the precession of the equinoxes.
First, let’s summarize what is precession of the equinoxes (PE). PE is an astronomical event involving our planet, the sun, the zodiacal band, and time. Scientific historians will argue that it was discovered by Hipparchus, but I believe it was well known many of thousands of years before his time, if not millions of years. In a book titled “Devolution” the author makes very good argument that human civilization, as we know it, is actually tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions of years old. He produces evidence of discoveries of human artifacts that have been unearthed around the globe, such as coins, that were embedded in earth tens to hundreds of millions of years old. How do coins, which would be evidence of a civilization, show up in bedrock that is tens of millions of years old? I believe the science of yugas clearly explains the reason for this. But we will discuss the yugas in the next posting.
The earth has five motions as it travels through space. The first is its daily rotation on its axis, which equals 24 hours, or one day. The second is it’s yearly motion of revolving around our sun on the ecliptic plane, which takes 365 earth days, or a year. The third motion is the “wobble” of the earth on its axis. The fourth motion is what Plato termed the “great year”. This great year is the time it takes for our sun with all it’s satellites (planets), and all of the planets satellites (moons), to complete it’s year of revolution around it’s central point, which is approximately 25,920 earth years, a very similar number to the total number of years of a great yuga cycle, which is 24,000 years. The fifth motion is the movement of our complete solar system traveling within the galaxy as the galaxy travels through space. All of these motions have an effect on humans, of which we will cover in future posts.
As all these motions are occurring, it has the apparent effect of the sun positioning itself “in front” of the constellations. So we say that the sun is “occupying” such and such constellation. Currently, our sun is occupying the constellation of Pisces or in the age of Pisces. The sun occupies each constellation or age for approximately 2160 years. This occupation is recorded on the annual spring equinox, where the sun appears to be in the sky each year on this date. So, for 2160 years, each spring equinox will tell us what age we are in. It is called precession of the equinoxes because the equinox appears to move westward along the ecliptic plane relative to the fixed stars, opposite to the motion of the sun.
The 25,920 years is approximate. Many scientists argue on the number of years but it’s safe to say it’s pretty accurate number. Walter Cruttenden makes a good case in his book “The Lost Star of Myth and Time” that the actual number of years fluctuates because of the gravitational tug of our (hypothetical) dual sun on the solar system. Walter argues that the PE is a result of our solar system traveling through space with the apparent backdrop of stars behind our sun as a result of this motion, as opposed to traditional scientific theory of the sun-moon “tugging” effect on the earth, or Solar-Lunar Theory of the PE. I say theory because it has not been proven what the cause is. There is no scientific law established explaining the PE. There are the laws of planetary motions and the like that were discovered by Isaac Newton, but these have some fallacies in how they explain the PE, of which we will discuss in future posts. With all due respect to Mr. Newton and his colleagues, these laws are only a few hundred years old and the knowledge of the PE by our ancient ancestors are tens of thousands of years old. I am inclined to believe in something that has been around much longer.
I would agree with the sun-moon effect on the earth as it relates to the position of the north star, which is currently Polaris. However, I agree with Walter as to the cause of the apparent backdrop of constellations and our sun. If he is correct in that the number of years of this great revolution fluctuates around the span of 25,000 years or so, then this would line up very well with the yuga science and it’s associated number of years. The Binary Research Institute is a good reference for those of you wishing to pursue deeper into the alternate theory of our possible binary star system and the solar systems motion through space.
In the next post we will summarize what is the Yuga Science.
